This post is most likely a bit unusual but with this post I want to clarify some things that could happen in the economic climate we are in right now.
This post is targeted to any EU citizen living outside of their mother country. In my case it is the UK while my mother country is the Netherlands.
I am facing tough times: Not in regards to my internet marketing activities but my main specialized IT services being under pressure due to the credit crunch.
I have had difficulties in securing a new project since the beginning of this year and because of this I am facing to lose everything I worked for.
I can live at this moment but it is purely on the basic requirements I am granted by the UK government. It was also a battle to get this all in order. I have battled to get these basic requirements for months and in June I was able to get this sorted. Still there are some things unsettled but I continue to fight to get these things.
First of all due to this I am going to lose my home and will become “homeless” in a couple of weeks time. Since I don’t qualify for residency I am only eligible to rent in the private market but I am happy with the support of the government.
As soon as you get into difficulties (debt, unemployment) you should find help. To take up another loan would not be my choice since an EU- citizen will be exposed to the bad credit loans and in the circumstances we are all in, it will be difficult to get the loans repaid.
I don’t have so high debts. With winning a project I could manage to pay off all my debts in months time but if you only have the basic requirements to live on you barely have enough money to save for other things.
Anyway I am losing my house and at the time of losing my house I get benefits to stay in the UK. These benefits are ok but still I need to have a roof above my head for me, my wife and my children. The private market isn’t so keen in taking up a tennant on benefits so there is the problem. Landlords cooperating with a local council are not listed or aren’t given to you in your circumstances.
When you have children there is always a need to give children a roof. If there aren’t any friends or family around then you are stuck and homeless. That is the situation I am in. I am eligible for benefits but no house as of yet and to be eligible for social housing I had to have a residence in the UK for 5 years. I failed this rule by a couple of months.
In internet marketing you hear stories of people being bankrupt, losing everything they have and found a way in starting a home business and get out of trouble.
I am doing ok with my internet marketing business but I am in trouble for other reasons and want to make people aware that they don’t have to despair. Even if you think there isn’t help available and even if you think you aren’t eligible because of your “status” in a country, you should investigate the possibilities or you can always contact me because I am in this situation right now. I am willing to advise you what steps to take and point you in the right direction.
I don’t require any sympathy or donations. It is just a matter of circumstances that I am in this situation right now and be assured I will get out of this situation when I am able to secure a job that can pay for my basic requirements.
